Peak Blinds install all kinds of Blinds and shutters across Derbyshire and across the borders of surrounding counties. These are just a few photos we’d like to share with you of a Roller Roman Blind which we fitted recently.  All our blinds are made to measure.

This Roman Roller makes a lovely change from the standard roller blind. The customer was looking for a blind to compliment their traditional Derbyshire stone house and decided on this fantastic Roman Blind.

After looking at our extensive range of fabrics, the homeowner chose a beautiful fabric called ” Collina Antique Gold”. Which we think complements the classic style of their hose perfectly.

What is a Roller Roman?

Roller Roman blinds get their name due to the fact it has a Roller Blind style, chrome chain, it’s classed as a ” Roller Roman”.

The blind installation is finished off with a cassette style top section, which has a matching fabric strip at the top of the blind.

The chrome chain is secured to the wall with a transparent chain tidy.   We think that Roman blinds have a little bit more elegance to them than your average roller.  What do you think?

How To Wash Roller Blinds

How To Wash Roller Blinds – James Restrick, Peak Blinds

Roller blinds, like any other fabric item in your home, will attract dust. In addition, they can also acquire extra dirt, grease and stains thanks to greasy fingers, spills and pets.

However they gather the dirt, you are likely to have to clean the roller blinds every now and again.

This task does, however, present a bit of a challenge.
You can’t simply take the blinds down and shove them into the washing machine like you can with fabric curtains. However, we do have a solution for you if you want to clean your blinds but don’t know where to start.

Step 1 – Remove Loose Dirt and Prepare Cleaning Solution

Vacuum your roller Blinds

Before washing the blinds you will want to get rid of as much loose dirt as possible from them in order to avoid pushing it into the fabric and making the issue worse.

The best way to do this is with a vacuum cleaner. We recommend using a brush attachment if you have one.

You can also use a microfiber cloth, which is an adequate substitute if the hoover is on the blink, or you’ve lost the brush attachment.

Step 2 – Wipe Your Blinds

Now that you’ve got the excess dirt off the blinds and given them their preliminary wipe down,

Then create a weak soap and water solution, it has to be weak so that you don’t stain or bleach the colour of your blinds.
Dab the blind with the soapy sponge water and use it to lightly wipe the worst affected areas. Quickly use your towel to soak away as much moisture as possible. Repeat this until the stains are removed. If you are concerned about damaging your fabric blinds with soap, test your sponge in an inconspicuous area before going applying to the stain.

Allow your blinds to air dry.

Whilst it might be possible to remove the fabric section of each roller blind, it’s probably not worth it. The less water and soap you get on your fabric blinds, the better.

Step 3 – Maintain your Blinds

Once the blinds are dry and stain free, all you have to do is maintain that standard.

It shouldn’t be too difficult to keep your blinds in a good condition. If you don’t maintain them though, it won’t be too long before they become discoloured and have to be replaced.

Always wash out new stains as soon as they occur. Don’t wait for them to dry and don’t forget to vacuum the blinds regularly.

These simple tips, when applied regularly will save you a lot of hassle going forward, and ensure that your fabric roller blinds last much longer.

If you should have any further questions about maintaining your roller Blinds, do get in touch with Peak Blinds. We will be delighted to assist you.

Beautiful Venetian Blinds Fitted At New Build House in Buxton

Order the best blinds in buxon from peak blinds

The majority of our blind fittings are done in Matlock and Chesterfield so it was fantastic to pick up another Buxton customer this month. We were called out by a young couple who wanted to add a nice modern touch to their brand new build house in Burbage, Buxton. They had lot’s of questions about the sort of blinds they would need but our fitter James had all the answers. Here are a few things we regularly asked.

Where Can I Buy The Best Blinds in Buxton?

There may well be other blind fitters in Buxton, but we can’t vouch for them. Peak Blinds are located within the Peak District, and Buxton is just a short trip down the A6 or over the A515 Ashbourne road. All our blinds are of a high quality, as we want the blinds to last you a long time.  Every Blind we fit reflects our fantastic reputation as a trustworthy local company near you.

Who Sells the Cheapest Blinds in Buxton?

We pride ourselves on our friendly and efficient service. Which we believe is worth much more than receiving your blinds in the mail and being left to install them yourself. Even on the occasions when we cant match the low prices of larger companies, you get the value of our dedicated, personal, blind fitting service.

What Kind of Blinds Will Suit Our House?

That depends really, it’s all down to personal choice. However, as this house was a new build house, that was built in light stone materials, it made sense to try to match the blinds.  The couple wanted to furnish the house in a modern and minimalist style.  We showed them a number of different materials stating that the different fabrics and finishes were available across the Peak Blinds range.

The couple settled on Venetian blinds throughout.  Being fully adjustable in both rotation and height. Venetian blinds let in plenty of light and airflow, whilst giving you plenty of privacy at the same time.

We suggested choosing a cool neutral colour blind to offset the darker wardrobes and built-in cupboards of the house. they chose well.  We fitted 25mm aluminium Venetian blinds in ” Polar White”.
